NEW YORK – Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP has been named the Best Accounting Firm in the United States in the annual Hedgeweek Awards announced June 28, 2012, at its award luncheon held in New York City.
Winners were selected based upon votes by Hedgeweek’s nearly 41,000 subscribers, who include individual and institutional investors as well as managers and other industry professionals. In voting for Anchin, readers recognized Anchin’s commitment to service and attention to details, according to Hedgeweek editors.
This honor is Anchin’s second this year from Hedgeweek. In March, Hedgeweek readers named Anchin the Best Accounting Firm in North America for the second consecutive year.
“Anchin is certainly pleased to be recognized by the readers of Hedgeweek as the Best US Accounting Firm,” said Jeffrey I. Rosenthal, CPA, Partner-in-Charge of the Firm’s Financial Services practice. “We appreciate the vote of confidence from the readers of Hedgeweek and our clients. This recognition is a testament to the outstanding personal service we deliver to our clients combined with the highest levels of technical expertise.”
Rosenthal was chosen to deliver the keynote address at the awards luncheon. In his comments, Rosenthal noted many changes in the industry over the past 25 years, such as: • A team approach to service that includes accountants, administrators, prime brokers, attorneys, and the fund manager; • The increased use of fund administrators; and • The rise of compliance consultants to assist with SEC and CFTC registration, the form ADV, Form PF, SEC and other regulatory examinations.
Rosenthal noted a bright future for the industry, citing a recent Citigroup report that the amount of money managed by hedge funds alone, now estimated at $2.1 trillion, could more than double to $5 trillion over the next five years.
“I believe the outlook for our industry for both managers and service providers looks quite promising,” Rosenthal said, “and that the death of the industry as reported by many after the fourth quarter of 2008 was very premature.”
With more than 35 years of experience supporting the Financial Services community, Anchin’s Financial Services practice currently serves investment partnerships, hedge funds, funds-of-funds, family offices, private equity funds, off-shore funds, master-feeder structures, broker/dealers, mutual funds, investment advisers, commodity advisers, securities specialists, and traders. Anchin has also established an affiliate in the Cayman Islands, Anchin, Block & Anchin (Cayman) Ltd., to provide audit services to funds registered in the Cayman Islands.
This honor from Hedgeweek mirrors numerous other honors Anchin has recently received, including being named a Best Place to Work in New York City and New York State as well as a Best Accounting Firm to Work For in the United States.
