Nisivoccia LLP (Mt. Arlington) News and Announcements

Dental Practice Accountant, Harlene Stevens, CPA, along with Marcia Geltman, Partner and Damien Paumi, Wealth Management Advisor hosted a lunch and learn for attendees on Friday, June 22, 2012. The conference was held at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey.

The lunch and learn session will include a presentation and discussions on: Maximizing Practice Efficiencies, Minimizing Taxes and Retirement Planning.

Nisivoccia LLP also displayed on the exhibition hall.

The Nisivoccia LLP Healthcare team sponsored the NJ Medical Group Management Association Summer 2012 Education Series "A Microsoft Excel Workshop for Healthcare Professionals" on June 21, 2012. The seminar included both intermediate and advanced training. Leslie Thomas, Healthcare Accountant, was on hand to assist the practice managers navigate the system as well as their healthcare accounting issues.

Governmental Partner Kathi Mantell along with governmental accountant Man Lee presented at the North and South Region NJ Association of School Board Officials workshops held in June 2012.

  • How to close the books 
  • What to consider when planning for your audit

Raymond Nisivoccia, was chair of the 2012 Scholarship Gala at Centenary College, New Jersey held on June 21, 2012. The funds raised from this event will keep a Centenary education accessible and affordable. Since its inception, the Scholarship Gala has raised over $2 million dollars for the Centenary College Scholarship Fund. The theme of this year's event was "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

"It is an honor to serve as Chair for this year's Scholarship Gala," says Raymond Nisivoccia, who is also a Centenary Trustee.  "Funds raised from this initiative will help make educational dreams come true for many deserving students."

Nisivoccia LLP was recognized by the Community Builders & Remodelers Association of NJ for their 2012 campaign, "You also need a strong financial foundation" at the 28th Annual 2012 Awards of Excellence ceremony on June 14, 2012, Sheraton Parsippany Hotel, Parsippany, NJ.

"In the building industry, your project won't stand without a strong foundation. We feel the same way when it comes to helping our clients. Our clients also need a strong financial foundation for their business to succeed." Nick Sarinelli, Partner.

Nisivoccia LLP has a specialized knowledge of the construction industry, and understands the needs of its clients well beyond their financial statements and can also advise on bonding, tax implications and industry regulations and requirements.

Myrlande Hector has been promoted from Supervising Senior to Supervisor. Myrlande joined our firm as a Semi-Senior Accountant in August 2007 after working as a Staff Accountant at another CPA firm for about two years. She was promoted to Senior Accountant in July 2009. On July 1st  2011 Myrlande was promoted to Supervising Senior. She received her CPA license in August 2011. Myrlande received her MBA from Caldwell College in May 2009. She also got her B.S. in Accounting from Caldwell College. Myrlande works in our Commercial group.

Derek Macchia has been promoted from Senior Accountant to Supervising Senior. Derek joined our firm in September 2004. He is a 2004 graduate of Montclair State University. Derek is in our Public Entity group.

Annie Mondragon has been promoted from Senior Accountant to Supervising Senior. Annie joined our firm in February 2008. She is a 2003 graduate of Felician College. She joined Nisivoccia LLP as a Senior Accountant after working for another CPA firm. Annie is in our Commercial group.

Eric Fernandes has been promoted from Semi-Senior Accountant to Senior Accountant. Eric worked as an Intern for us in 2008 and joined our firm as a Staff Accountant after completing his MS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University in January 2009. Eric obtained his CPA license in November 2009. He is in our Commercial group with most of time focused  in our tax practice.

Stephanie Kudlak has been promoted from Semi-Senior Accountant to Senior Accountant. Steph obtained her BS in Accounting from Centenary College in May 2007 and then went on to get her MBA from the same school in 2009. She joined our firm as a Staff Accountant in June 2007. Stephanie is in our Public Entity group.

Glenn Schwier has been promoted from Staff Accountant to Senior Accountant. Glenn joined our firm in July 2009.  He graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Accounting. He then continued his schooling and got a law degree from Seton Hall University. Glen practiced as an attorney from 2001 until joining Nisivoccia when he decided to pursue accounting as a career. He passed all four parts of the CPA exam on his first attempt. After obtaining a year of experience he was able to obtain his CPA in November 2010. He works in our Tax group.

Ben Vince has been promoted from Semi-Senior Accountant to Senior Accountant. Ben obtained his BS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University in May 2007. He joined our firm as a Staff Accountant in June 2007. Ben is in our Public Entity group.

Luisa Ramirez has been promoted from Semi-Senior Accountant to Senior Accountant. She obtained her BS in Accounting from Rutgers University in May 2008. She joined our firm as a Staff Accountant in September 2008. She left us for a brief period but rejoined the firm in January 2010. Luisa is in our Public Entity group.

Ryan Hynson has been promoted from Staff Accountant to Semi-Senior Accountant. Ryan interned with us for three years while attending college. He obtained his BS in Accounting from Bloomsburg University in May 2009. He continued with his schooling and obtained a Masters in Accounting from  Fairleigh Dickinson University in December 2011. He joined our firm as a Staff Accountant on January 3, 2011. Ryan is in our Commercial group.

Patricia Jones has been promoted from Staff Accountant to Semi-Senior Accountant. She joined us full-time in July 2010. Tricia worked in Public Entity as an Intern the summers of 2008 and 2009 while attending college.  Tricia graduated from Penn State University. She earned a Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting in May 2009 and took additional coursework to get a second degree in Crime, Law and Justice in May 2010. Tricia is in our Public Entity group.

Brian Ko has been promoted from Staff Accountant to Semi-Senior Accountant.  He joined the firm full-time on January 3, 2011 after completing a one month internship from mid-October to mid-November. He is a recent graduate of Bryant University in Rhode Island. Brian’s degree was a BS in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration. He is currently taking courses at Fairleigh Dickinson University to obtain his 150 credit hours. Brian is in our Public Entity group.

Taylor Meytrott has been promoted from Staff Accountant to Semi-Senior Accountant. He joined our firm as an Intern on July 12th 2010 and was hired as Staff Accountant in October of that year. He received his B.S degree in Accounting from William Paterson University in May. Previous work experience includes an internship with another CPA firm. Taylor works in Public Entity.

“Reasonable Compensation for S Corporation Owners” by Nick Sarinelli will appear in an issue of Real Estate Advisor newsletter and is on the Web site. It will also be published by the Community Builders & Remodelers Association.

“Sales Tax Q & A with Marcia Geltman” appeared in the April 29th issue of the Record newspaper.
